I’ve spent much of my working life abroad, writing about what happens when the world doesn’t behave quite the way I expected. It has supplied an impressive amount of material, much of it at my expense.
I’m the publisher behind Expats Planet. My work also includes print journalism and writing about WordPress. Along the way, I’ve built and managed independent websites and worked in English-language assessment.

The Publishing Project Behind Much of My Work
Expats Planet grew out of life abroad and the cultural surprises that kept giving me something to write about. I write about the assumptions we take with us and the moments that make us reconsider them.
The stories appear on the website and Substack, with an established archive on Medium. Readers can enjoy them without having the slightest intention of moving overseas. Those considering it will probably recognize a few questions of their own.
Beyond the Articles
My experience includes commissioned writing and the practical work of running independent websites. I’ve managed WordPress publications and worked with advertising and affiliate monetization, alongside my own publishing.
Earlier in my career, I taught English and worked as an examiner in Kyiv. That work remains a useful part of my professional background, particularly when clear communication matters.
