Your teacher

I’m David Peluchette, an American native English speaker and CELTA-qualified teacher. I spent more than eight years as an IELTS Speaking examiner, assessing thousands of candidates from across Ukraine. I also spent more than ten years as a Cambridge UCLES oral examiner through the British Council in Kyiv, covering KET, PET, FCE, CAE and CPE.

I taught at the London School of English in Kyiv and Donetsk, International House Kyiv, and privately in Kyiv. Ukraine was home for roughly 20 years.

Booking, payment and your call

Choose a time. Book at least 24 hours ahead and answer the short form.
Pay your invoice. I’ll email your invoice. Pay within 2 hours of receiving it.
Receive confirmation. Your request stays pending until I confirm it after payment.
Join your session. I’ll call you at the confirmed time.

Cal.com asks for your name, email and WhatsApp number with country code. Its short form asks whether you have taken IELTS before and when, your previous Speaking score if known, target overall and Speaking bands, your purpose (immigration, university admission, other or unsure), Academic or General Training (or unsure), and approximate exam date (or not booked/unsure).

All invoices and payments are handled through PayPal. Pay by Visa, Mastercard, or other available methods; options vary by location.

With at least 24 hours’ notice, you may reschedule once for free or cancel for session credit. Late cancellations and missed appointments usually forfeit payment. Emergency exceptions apply.

Full booking terms

Payment and rescheduling
Choose an available appointment through Cal.com at least 24 hours ahead. Your time request remains pending while I send a PayPal invoice. The 2-hour payment window starts when the invoice reaches your inbox, not when you book. Payment in full must arrive before the appointment. After payment, I will approve the request in Cal.com and you will receive the appointment confirmation; otherwise, I will release the time. With at least 24 hours’ notice, you may reschedule once at no extra charge. The replacement should take place within 30 days of the original appointment, subject to availability; we will agree an extension if I cannot offer a suitable time.

Student cancellations
A cancellation with at least 24 hours’ notice preserves your payment for that replacement appointment rather than a cash refund. With less notice or for a missed appointment, the fee is normally retained and no replacement is included, except for the emergencies below.

Emergencies in Ukraine
If an air-raid alert, power cut, unexpected connection disruption or serious illness prevents you from attending or continuing, prioritise your safety and contact me when practical. We will arrange to complete or replace the session at no extra charge. This does not use up your ordinary rescheduling allowance, and we can extend the 30-day period where necessary. A brief explanation is enough.

If I cancel or a session is interrupted
If I cancel or miss your appointment, you may choose a replacement or a full refund. If a problem on my side interrupts the session, we will first arrange to complete it or provide a replacement. If that is not workable, I will refund the undelivered portion, or the full assessment fee if no useful assessment was delivered.

Late arrival and refunds
If you arrive late, the session normally ends at the original time. Outside the exceptions above and any rights required by applicable law, payments are non-refundable for student cancellations. Duplicate or incorrect charges will be corrected. Refunds use the original payment method where possible.
